Lot Description

A pair of George III Scottish silver dessert spoons with pointed terminals and stag crests, hallmarked Patrick Robertson, Edinburgh 1789. Together with four composite George III silver teaspoons with similar stag crest terminals and a set of six 1930's silver grapefruit spoons, hallmarked Sheffield 1934. Gross weight 8.3 ozt (258 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The pair of Scottish spoons are in good overall condition. The George III teaspoons are hallmarked William Eley, William Fearn & William Chawner London 1809 (3) and George Smith (III) & William Fearn London 1792 (1), these do display wear to the bowl edges, one bowl also heavily creased/dented. The grapfruit spoons also with noticeable dents to the tips of the bowls, one also with significant wear to the edge, and almost look sot have been filed down, pitting marks to the terminal of another. The hallmarks vary in condition but generally legible.
