Lot Description
A Victorian Britannia silver chocolate pot, of plain tapering octagonal form with ebonised scroll handle and ribbed border detail to the foot rim, the hinged, domed cover with ovoid shape finial. Hallmarked Daniel & John Wellby, London 1880. Maximum height including finial measures 7 1/2 inches (19 cm), gross weight 13.43 ozt (417.7 grams).

Condition Report
The pot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Numerous deeper scratches and nicks are visible all over and also various minor surface dints. Some remnants of polish are visible around the top of the hinge on the cover. The hinges are in working order, although there is a slight gap when closed. Full hallmarks to the underside and part hallmarks to the flange of the lid. All are legible.
