Lot 454

Lot Description

A 1940's silver cased Yard-O-Led pencil with engine turned decoration, hallmarked London 1946, with maker's mark J M & Co and patent no 422767. Together with another silver cased retractable pencil, hallmarked Walker & Hall, Birmingham 1958, a further propelling example marked 'Everpoint' and 'Sterling silver' and a silver cased bridge pencil with foliate scroll engraving and suspension loop, hallmarked E Baker & Son, Birmingham, possibly 1913. (4).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the pencils display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Deeper scratches and marks visible to some areas.  The engine turned decoration is very worn on the Yard-O-Led pencil and it displays some heavier tarnishing.  There is also some loss of detail to the engraved decoration on the bridge pencil and some small surface dints and bumps.  All pencils still contain some lead.  Some rubbing to hallmarks, however they are still legible.
