Lot Description
A 1930's silver mounted and mother of pearl ashtray, the central column fitted with combined silver matchbox case and cigarette holder, and raised above a spreading circular foot. Hallmarked Sheffield 1933, with maker's mark S & R, possibly Southern & Richardson. Maximum approximate height measures 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm).

Condition Report
The item displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Various nicks and small rim chips to mother of pearl. Large split along the join on one corner of the match box case. The case is also now leaning over to one side. Numerous deeper scratches, nicks and some other small dints and bumps. Some knocks to the foot rim. Some rubbing to maker's mark on base but other hallmarks and part hallmarks are clear and legible.
