Lot Description

A late Victorian silver vesta case, the oblong form with scroll engraving and monogrammed circular cartouche, hallmarked Birmingham 1900. Together with four further Victorian and later silver vesta cases of varying oblong styles and sizes, hallmarked Birmingham 1890, 1902 and 1914, various maker's. Gross weight 3.4 ozt (105 grams). (5).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The smallest vesta case is quite dented. Two vesta cases are monogrammed. Some rubbing to the definition of the decoration. One hinge is a little loose. The hallmarks to the smallest example are distorted, all other hallmarks are clear and legible.
