Lot 54

Lot Description

An Edwardian pair of silver candlesticks of oval form, each with plain tapering column below a vase shape socket and detachable nozzle and leading to a stepped and loaded base, presentation inscription to one. Hallmarked Walter Latham & Son, Sheffield 1906. Height measures 11 3/4 inches (30 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both candlesticks display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Heavier tarnishing is visible to the bases of both.  Some deeper scratches and nicks are visible and also various surface dints and bumps.  The base on one of the sticks is in poorer condition as there are numerous small dints and some splits starting to appear in the metal along the joins.  Detachable nozzles are quite a tight fit.  Slight rubbing  to hallmarks but all still clear and legible.  Some distortion to part hallmarks on the nozzles.
