Lot Description
An Edwardian silver small basket with swing handle, the wide everted rim with foliate pierced decoration within a scrolled border, with further foliate scroll motifs to the handle and the whole raised above a spreading base with conforming pierced decoration. Hallmarked London 1906, maker's mark R.LTD, probably Russell's Ltd. Maximum length measures 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm), weight 8.26 ozt (256.8 grams).

Condition Report
The basket displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier patches and spots of tarnishing to some areas. General surface dints and bumps. There is some damage to the pierced decoration, mainly on the wide rim. There are sections where pieces have broken off and are now missing. The hinged swing handle is in working order, however it does not stay upright. The handle appears to be struck with a different maker's mark, however this is partly distorted and indistinct. The hallmarks to the main basket are also quite rubbed, especially the date letter and lion passant.
