Lot 92

Lot Description

A 1930's pair of silver candlesticks in early Georgian style, with knopped octagonal sided central column below a vase shape socket with fixed circular nozzle and raised above a shaped and loaded base with concave corners, with personal presentation inscription to the base of one. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., London 1937.  Maximum height measures 10 inches (25.5 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both candlesticks display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible all over and both would benefit from a clean and polish.  Deeper scratches and nicks are visible to some areas, especially around the base edges and rims.  There is also some rounding and slight loss of detail to other surface edges and some loss of definition to the engraved presentation inscription.  The hallmarks are all clear and legible.
