D.S.O., Great War and WWII Group, comprising George V Distinguished Service Order, 1914 Star, 5th Aug.-22nd Nov. 1914 clasp named to 'Lieut: F. H. Gunner. S. Staff: R.', British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal, M.I.D Oak Leaf, both named to 'Bt. Major F. H. Gunner.', WWII Defence Medal. (5). D.S.O. reverse with flaking to white enamel on one arm.
The London Gazette, 1 December, 1914, lists Lieutenant Frank Hugh Gunner, 2nd Battalion, The South Staffordshire Regiment, as receiving the Distinguished Service Order for ''Conspicuous and consistent good work, in charge of machine-gun section, 12th September to 4th November - almost continually in action: displayed greatest courage, coolness and judgment in difficult and dangerous situations.'' A later issue of The London Gazette, 10th April, 1923, lists ''S. Stafford R.-Maj. Frank Hugh Gunner, D.S.O. (Capt. & Bt. Maj., ret. pay), to be Maj., 11th April, 1923, with seniority 5th May 1922.''

Condition Report
The medal group displays general scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age. Minor edge knocks visible. Perhaps some polishing, particularly to the Star with a little loss of detail to the raised surfaces. Areas of toning/tarnishing. The medals are mounted, some fraying to the ribbons, naively stitched and glued. Significant loss of enamel to the reverse of the DSO on one arm, also loss of an arm of the wreath bow. No researched established regarding WWII service.
