Lot 386

Lot Description

A nineteenth century cast replica of a Waterloo Medal, fully named in engraved upright capitals to 'William Cooper 2nd. Batt. 69th. Reg. Foot.' , with bar suspension also bearing the recipient's name.

A William Cooper, Private of the 69th Foot, 2nd Battalion has been recorded as being entitled to the Waterloo Medal. This replica would appear to have been made for the recipient relatively soon after the original, possibly as a replacement for a lost, sold or pawned original.
