A late 19th century 18ct gold opal and diamond five-stone ring. The alternating oval opal cabochons and old-cut diamonds, to the scrolling gallery, shoulders and tapered band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.40ct. Partial hallmarks for Chester. Weight 3.3gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Evidence of resizing, with joints at the shoulders. Wear to some of the claws. Opals light coloured with play-of-colour from red through to violet. Opals in fair condition with surface abrasion, giving the surfaces a matt appearance. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue for coloured gemstones. Diamonds fairly bright. Individual size/setting prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. One diamond has no obvious inclusions, but has nibbles to the crown and pavilion. The other diamond has a large surface reaching fracture, along with other large inclusions towards the girdle, durability may be affected. Diamonds in fair condition with some abrasion and nibbles. Ring size M1/2. Hallmarks partially rubbed, date letter indistinct.
