Lot Description
A late 19th century continental silver and gold diamond brooch. The rose-cut diamond, within a similarly-cut diamond foliate surround, to the later back fitting. Dimensions of central diamond 7.5 by 6.4mms. Length 3.5cms. Weight 14.9gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition fair to poor. The brooch is broken with a section of outer detail missing. There is significant black tarnishing to all of the settings. The diamonds appear to be drawing colour, they are backed, there are significant inclusions and areas of abrasion to many. Several diamonds are chipped. There is significant lead solder to the reverse of the brooch, the piece appears to have been altered possibly from a larger piece. The back pin and catch is modern and secure. There are scratches and areas of tarnishing to the back of the brooch. Some settings may need to be secured.
