Lot Description

An early Victorian cast bronze figure of 'Iris Ascending'.
By J. A. Hatfield for The Art Union of London.
After the original marble statue by William Boynton Kirk (Irish, 1824-1900), executed in 1844.
The figure modelled with arms raised holding a billowing cloak on a rocky outcrop.
Stamped verso MODELLED EXPRESSLY FOR THE ART-UNION OF LONDON BY W. B. KIRK AND EXECUTED IN BRONZE BY J. A. HATFIELD 1847.
21.25", (54cm) high.
