Lot Description

A George IV pair of silver open salts, of circular form with engraved crest to the lobed body, foliate scroll and shell border, above four leaf capped feet, with blue glass liners, hallmarked Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard, London 1829. Together with two silver plated teaspoons. Diameter 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight of salts excluding liners 9.74 ozt (276.1 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. There are small dents and patches of discolouration to both. One has a small split to the seam of one lobe. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible. One maker's mark is half rubbed. One liner has a chip to the rim. The teaspoons are unmarked and plated.
