Lot 18

Lot Description

A Victorian silver teapot with fine vertical lobing to the lower body, lid and finial, and shell mounted handle and spout. Hallmarked Alexander Clark, London 1895. Height 6 inches (15.25 cm), weight 15.87 ozt (450 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The lot is heavily tarnished with minor surface scratches commensurate with age and use. The spout is dented and has a small crack to the tip. The handle is slightly loose, with a pin worked partially out and a hairline crack above the bottom insulator. The hinge for the lid is loose allowing a lot of sideways movement and the lid no longer sits flush to the pot as it is dented out of shape. The hallmarks and maker's marks are clear and legible for the most part, with the exception of the maker's mark on the underside of the lid which is partially worn.
