Lot 183

Lot Description

A selection of condiments to include a pair of silver oval open salts with pierced sides and four bun feet, hallmarked Martin Hall & Co Ltd, Birmingham 1919. Together with a twin handled silver open salt with frilled rim and four shell mounted feet, hallmarked Bert Gordon, Birmingham 1968, a diamond shaped silver mustard with hinged lid, A.F., hallmarked E S Barnsley & Co (Edward Souter Barnsley), Birmingham 1911, and three further open salts to include a silver plated example modelled as a basket. Predominately with blue glass liners. (6).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In varied state, however all the items in the lot display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  The overall condition of the open salts appears to be okay.  Two of the feet on the twin handled open salt are slightly upturned so that it wobbles a little when standing.  The mustard pot is in fairly poor condition as the feet are quite squashed or bent.  Chips to some of the glass liners.  Some rubbing and distortion but the hallmarks, when present, are mainly legible.
