Lot 33

Lot Description

A Victorian silver christening mug, the cylindrical form with Aesthetic period engraving of birds and butterflies amongst foliage. Hallmarked William Hutton & Sons (Edward Hutton), London 1880. Height measuring 3 1/4 inches (8.5 cm), weight 3.5 ozt (110 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The overall condition appears fairly good, there are some general surface scratches and marks and general wear in keeping with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible to some areas and it would benefit from a clean and polish.  The engraved decoration still appears fairly crisp.  Some deeper nicks are visible and there are also some small surface dints, mainly visible to the rounded base and top of the handle.  Small knock to the foot rim and the main rim is very slightly misshapen.  Slight rubbing to maker's mark and hallmarks but all still clear and legible.
