Lot 406

Lot Description

A middle eastern box, the square form with central bird embossed panel to the stylised engraved surround, opening to a presentational engraving and signatures to Thomas Wikeley from the French Consulate, Jerusalem 1957. Stamped 84 alongside a further mark. Width measuring 7 1/8 inches (18 cm), weight 23.5 ozt (733 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The box appears in good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.  The tarnishing appears heavier in between some of the decorated areas.  A little bit more wear to edges and corners and the plain underside displays some deeper scratches and marks.  Hinged lid is in working order.  The struck mark '84' within a circular punch is clear but the other struck mark is fairly indistinct.
