Lot Description

A George III Irish silver cream jug of slightly bulbous form with protruding engraved panels to each side, the scrolling foliate pattern surrounding an initialled cartouche on one side, vacant on the other, with a shell and scroll mounted rim towards the leaf capped angular handle, above four paw feet. Hallmarked Charles Marsh, Dublin 1817. Height 4 3/4 inches (12 cm), weight 5.78 ozt (164.4 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. There is a small discoloured spot to the top of the handle, possible repairs and some rubbing to the detailing of the shells on the rim. There is a light graze to the engraving on one side and gentle dents to the opposite side. The hallmarks and maker's mark are worn but legible.
