Lot 472

Lot Description

A Chinese export circular form open salt with glass liner, the pierced sides decorated with oriental character symbols and motifs, struck to the underside with maker's mark for Wo Shing (Shanghai & Canton c.1830-1875). Together with six Chinese export spoons decorated with character symbols to the shaped and pierced terminals, each struck with maker's mark for Wang Hing & Co (Hong Kong, Canton & Shanghai c.1854-1925). Weight of spoons 60.4 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the pieces in lot display general surface scratches, marks, wear and some tarnishing.  The open salt has a small section missing from the rim and there are a couple of dints/knocks to the base rim and feet.  It also displays some heavier tarnishing and slight loss of surface detail to some of the decoration.  The bowls of the spoons appear to have faired quite well, some minor bumps.  Some light wear to maker's marks but they are all still legible.
