An early George II silver caster, of baluster form on circular foot, to the pierced and scroll and swag engraved lid with finial and engraved acorn crest. Hallmarked Joseph Smith I, London 1728. Height 5 1/8 inches (13.2 cm). Weight 2.74 ozt (85.4 grams).

Good overall condition with scratches, small dents and tarnish in keeping with general wear. The lid is unhallmarked. The lid is a tight fit. Small dents to main body, lid and foot. Foot with slight dents and very slight compression to one side, caster at very slight angle. Wear to duty mark. Scratch marks to inside of foot rim.
