Lot Description

A Victorian set of five silver Fiddle pattern teaspoons, each with bright cut engraved foliate motifs to the stem and terminal with oval vacant cartouche, hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1900. Together with a set of five 1920's silver egg spoons with pierced terminals, hallmarked Alexander Clark & Co Ltd., Sheffield 1928 (one 1927), a pair of early twentieth century silver sugar nips, a further example with claw grips, floral and foliate decoration and stamped 'sterling', a silver plated pair of sugar nips, a set of ten coffee spoons marked 'sterling' a plated pickle fork with matching spoon and a mother of pearl handled pickle fork and butter knife. Hallmarked silver weight 6.2 ozt (193 grams). (27).

All the pieces in the lot display general surface scratches, marks, wear and light tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some deeper scratches and nicks are visible, especially to the bowls of the Fiddle pattern spoons.  There is also more wear visible towards the tips of these bowls.  Some visible wear and rounding to the tips of some of the coffee spoons, however the other spoon bowls have generally faired quite well.  Hallmarks, where present, are clear and legible.
