Lot Description
Two similar George II silver open salts of plain circular form with rubbed engravings, on three hoof feet and one with rope-twist rim. One hallmarked Dorothy Mills & Thomas Sarbitt, London 1755, the other London 1734, maker's mark indistinct. Gross weight 4.19 ozt (118.8 grams).

Condition Report
Both salts are tarnished, with surface scratches and heavy dents commensurate with age and use. On the larger, the detailing on the rim and feet is slightly rubbed and there is a deposit on the rim in places, the hallmarks are partially obscured and the maker's mark is illegible. On the smaller, the rim is slightly distorted in shape and the feet are slightly bent, the marker's mark is partially worn and the hallmarks are very rubbed. Heavy debris to the interiors, no glass liners present.
