Lot Description

An Edwardian set of four Sampson Mordan silver menu holders, each modelled as a standing owl with glass eyes, perched on a branch and mounted on a plain circular base. Hallmarked Sampson Mordan & Co Ltd., Chester 1908. Height measures 3.5 cm, gross weight 83.5 grams.

They all display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some heavier scratches and nicks are visible to some areas.  Some slight loss of surface detail to the feather decoration.  Damage to an eye on one of the owls and remnants of polish around some of the others.  Patch of black around the base of one of the owls, possibly solder?  Slight rubbing to maker's marks but still legible, hallmarks are clear and legible.
