Lot Description

A Victorian silver bachelor teapot, the spherical body raised on three ball feet, a tapered straight spout, reeded collar to the detachable lid with replacement ebonised finial, the body engraved with the Christie family crest of a cross. Hallmarked William Hunter, London 1884. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm), weight 8.5 ozt (265 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Numerous heavy dents to the body. Pins to the fruitwood handle are positioned slightly to one side. Ebonised finial appears to be a replacement with cork underlay. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
