A late nineteenth century Dutch novelty box modelled as a heron with hinged folded wings, stamped with the Dutch lion passant standard mark, date mark for 1893, Minerva head with regional assay office 'M', height measuring 3 inches (8 cm). Together with a modern silver model of a heron, hallmarked London 1985 with the sponsor's mark P.E., height measuring 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cm). Gross combined weight 2.4 ozt (76.8 grams). (2).

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A hole has worn through along the seam of the box to the front, the closing mechanism to the lid appears a little crude. Heavy build up of deposits to the recesses.
