An Art Nouveau silver trinket box of square form, embossed with a stylised image of a man and woman on a swing within foliate scroll border, hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1901, width measuring 3 1/4 inches (8.5 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver mounted jewellery box, hallmarked Deakin & Francis Ltd, Birmingham 1907, width measuring 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm). (2).

Both boxes are in need of some restorationThe lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Art Nouveau example missing liner and base. The larger second examples lining has deteriorated and no loner sits flush with the silver mount, from the underside the appearance is in need of some restoration and attention. The silver displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor dents and bumps visible. On the second example holes have worn through to the high areas of scroll embossing to the border. Hallmarks a little rubbed but legible.
