Lot Description

A late nineteenth century Indian card case by Oomersi Mawji, Bhuj, Kutch, the oblong form with repoussé and chased floral arabesques surrounding an elephant to one side and a cartouche to the other, initialled M.H. Marked to the inner rim O.M. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm), weight 3.2 ozt (102 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Numerous minor dents and dints. The lid and body do not sit flush and the lid quite loose in position. O.M struck clear and legibly.
