Lot Description
A Victorian silver cream jug, the shaped body and fluted corners with engraved crest and motto 'Bear and Forbear', hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1898, height measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm). Together with a Victorian open salt with floral embossing, crested and standing on three shell mounted hoof feet, hallmarked London 1849. Gross weight 5.5 ozt (173 grams). (2).

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some areas of much heavier tarnishing and discolouration, particularly to the gilding to the interior of the salt. Minor dints and bumps. Acid tests to the underside. The hallmarks to both appear quite rubbed, maker's mark to the open salt JE?, also marked J Wordley, Liverpool.
