A Victorian silver-gilt vinaigrette, the oblong hinged form with shaped rim, concave edge, engine turned decoration and opening to reveal a floral scroll grille. Hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1842. Length measuring 3.5 cm, weight 18.3 grams.

The vinaigrette displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Wear in high areas of contact to the gilding. Heavy discolouration to the inner base. Cartouche is vacant. Minor dint to case. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
