A Victorian vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills, designed as an oblong with shaped edges and scroll engraving to the top and bottom, a personal inscription to the central asymmetrical cartouche, opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior with floral scrolling pierced grill. Hallmarked Birmingham 1842(?). Length of case 4 1/2 cm, weight 36.1 grams.

Condition Report
The vinaigrette displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A little bit more wear around edges and corners. The main hinge is broken at one end and the lid is rising slightly when in a closed position. Some wear and deterioration to hallmarks but they are still legible.
