A dark opal and diamond brooch. The tapered oval-shape dark opal cabochon, to the old-cut diamond collet bar. Estimated diamond weight 0.30ct, H-I colour, SI clarity. Length 4.4cms. Weight 5.2gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good. The opal has a grey body colour, displaying blues, greens, oranges and reds. The play of colour is restricted to the top of the opal, the base of the opal is grey opaque. The opal has a vibrant play of colour, there are some fine scratches and a single small chip to the outer edging. There appears to be a colourless lacquer to the diamond, that would need to be removed, there are small inclusions visible with magnification.
