Lot Description

A late Victorian 18ct gold diamond and split pearl crescent brooch, circa 1890. Designed as an old-cut diamond crescent, entwined to the graduated split pearl crescent surmount. Estimated total diamond weight 0.30ct. Length 4.2cms. Weight 3.3gms.

Overall condition good to fair. There are scratches and areas of discolouration to the brooch in keeping with overall wear. Stamped Rd 166973. The diamonds are bright, there are chips to some visible with magnification. There is a crack to the nacre of one of the split pearls, there are blemishes visible to the terminal of some of the outer split pearls. The split pearls are fairly well matched. The back catch and pin appears to be a replacement.
