Lot Description

Two early 20th century gold split pearl swallow brooches. To include a 9ct gold split pearl swallow and floral brooch and a split pearl swallow brooch, designed as two swallows to the curved bar. Lengths 4.6 and 3.8cms. Weight 5.7gms.

Overall condition fair. There are scratches and areas of discolouration to both brooches. There are significant blisters and blemishes to many of the split pearls. There is significant lead solder visible to the catch of the swallow and foliate brooch, the back pin is metal. There is a split pearl deficient from the other piece, the split pearls are fairly well matched, with some visible blemishes in places. The back pin and catch is secure.
