A late 19th century silver and 12ct gold opal and diamond brooch. The pear-shape opal cabochon, within a vari-cut diamond foliate surround, suspended from an old and single-cut diamond bow, to the rose-cut diamond ribbon spacer, may also be worn as a pendant. Estimated total diamond weight 3.75cts. Pin with French assay marks. Length 5.1cms. Weight 12.6gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Tarnishing and discolouration. One replacement zircon. Some replacement diamonds. Brooch fitting with screw fastening, may be unattached. Evidence of repair to the top of the pendent cluster, possible replacement hinge fitting. Opal with play-of-colour from violet to orange, good condition with minor abrasion. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue for coloured gemstones. Diamonds fairly bright. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.55ct, H-I colour, P1 clarity, assessed within the limits of the mount. Low relief large clouds of dark coloured inclusions, easily visible under magnification. Individual size of the outer diamonds prevents accurate colour/clarity assessment. Some drawing a yellow hue. Scattered to large inclusions, some visible to the unaided eye. Diamonds in fair to good condition, some with minor abrasion, some with significant nicks and nibbles.
