Lot 349

Lot Description

A good South East Asian gilt bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni
Thailand, Probably 17th or 18th century
Standing in samabhanga, both hands in abhayamudra, wearing samghati, curled hairdress and usnisha topped by a flame, on a stepped red-lacquered octagonal base, 19", (48cm) high (s/d).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Flame to headdress appears bent. Loose connection between base and feet - unstable to stand. Considerable rubbing and flaking - especially to back of cloak. Loops beneath sleeves mean something must have hooked on here. Additional hook behind base is also vacant. Overall - much wear/flaking and some damage but still displays well.
