A fine Victorian brass-bound walnut games compendium.
George Betjemann & Sons, London.
The hinged figured cover with rounded front and rear edges, the studded strapwork flanking agate cabochons and cut brass quatrefoil, enclosing a chessboard over red morocco-lined compartmentalised tray with ivory marker and cribbage board, six dice, a complete chess set (red stained and natural), a full set of draughts, and two further circular markers with 'hand' indicators, the lock stamped G. BETJEMANN & SONS LONDON, the drawer beneath also with twin agate cabochons and fitted with eight divisions housing a pair of treen shakers, two sets of ivory counters (red-stained and natural), and four part sets of playing cards, three by De la Rue & Co, 12.5" x 9.5" x 7" high, (32cm x 24cm x 18cm).

Condition Report
Some minor tight veneer cracking for front left corner of cover continuing to top right corner of left side panel. Brass strapwork a little dull to lid. Small loss to frill of whire Queen, splits to a couple of draughts. Playing card sets incomplete (one only missing Ace of Spades, others more deficient). Sold with key.
