A late George III oval silkwork picture, depicting 'The Sailor's Return', with a sailor before his moored ship, returning to find his lover now with another man, outside a thatched cottage, she winding wool, the faces with painted detail, 13.5" x 11.5" (34cm x 29cm), in good rectangular verre eglomise surround and reeded fruitwood frames.

Sky is unusually undamaged, has a few horizontal dark lines but these are in the weave, not tears. Colour still decent, mont and frame in very good condition, later paper backing.
