A good late 19th century French black slate and malachite mantel clock with perpetual calendar.
Samuel Marti, Paris, retailed by Whiteman, Northampton.
The 5.75-inch dial with incised gilt Roman chapters framing a moon phase and three subsidiary dials for day, date and month, over retailer's inscription, the two-train movement with Medaille de Bronze exhibition stamp, numbered 24*8 and 7002, and star-shaped stamp "U.F. BREVETE S.G.D.G.", the arched case with beaded bezel, over malachite panels between scrolls, on plinth base, 16" wide x 14.5" high, (40.5cm x 37cm).

Two dial hairlines through subsidiary dials. Flaking around one winding arbour, one collet missing.
Tear to top of feather above pendulum.
Movement appears sound.
Typical minor edge chips to case, some infill to plinth moulding where dedication plaque removed.
