A good George III oak and mahogany cased 8-day brass dial longcase clock, Samuel Harley, Salop (Shrewsbury), circa 1775, the 12-inch square dial having silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds dial, foliate engraving, silvered calendar crescent and engraved maker's name within coppered scroll spandrels, the knopped five pillar movement rack striking on a bell, the case with ogee caddy top to the stepped hood over cavetto moulded cornice and blind fretwork on fluted columns with gilt capitals, the crossbanded long trunk door between fluted quadrant columns on a crossbanded base and plinth, 87" (221cm) high.

Condition Report
Dial- Chapter ring 'speckled, minor scratch to centre. Movement- May need new gut/wire to barrels, but otherwise very good condition, date wheel operational. Unusual to be 5-pillar. Original seatboard. No packing to cheeks. Case- Spilt to roof of hood, minor trunk door shrinkage (small gap to left hand side). Plinth base probably later, cuts through lower edge (no crossbanding). Good colour/patination.
