Lot Description

An unusual pearl-glazed earthenware figure of Ralph Wood type. Probably circa 1780, modelled as a bald rotund figure, perhaps a wrestler, unusually dressed in one-piece costume, his right index finger to his lips, painted in Whieldon earth colours on a naturalistic green mould base, numbered (perhaps later) 1179 beneath, 5.5" (14 cm) high.
