Lot Description

A George III pair of silver open salts of oval Neoclassical open-work form and each with blue glass liner and raised on four claw and ball feet. Hallmarked London 1786, maker's mark to one possibly HT. Height measuring 2 inches (5 cm), gross silver weight 3.4 ozt (106.5 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

To one of the salts there are a number of small cracks and repairs to the underside rim, possibly further small repairs to this one salt. Glass liners slightly differ, one lightly to be a replacement, one also with numerous chips, a few smaller chips present to the second liner. Hallmarks clear and legible to one, with the maker's mark possibly HT, partially illegible, hallmarks to the second worn and distorted, no maker's mark visible.
