Lot 128

Lot Description

A twentieth century cream jug, with gadrooned rim and angular handle to the plain bulbous body, and standing on four ball feet. Maker's mark only is visible, probably Deakin & Francis (1890-1977). Height including handle measures 4 inches (10 cm), weight 3.6 ozt (112 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The jug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  General surface dints and bumps are visible, and in particular a circular bumpy patch to the main body, to one side of the bottom of the handle.  The patch can also be seen to the interior, a possible repair?  Some loss of detail to gadrooned rim and a couple of splits starting to appear.  Knocks to the ball feet and impressions from two of them are visible to the interior.  Struck with maker's marks only, a little rubbed but still just legible.
