Lot Description
A George II silver tea caddy, of bombé form with foliate detail to the serpentine rims, the conforming shape lid decorated with trailing foliage and with a flower and leaf moulded finial. Hallmarked London 1758, maker's mark probably 'J.B', tentatively attributed to John Bayley. Height including finial measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 7.32 ozt (227.7 grams).

Condition Report
The caddy displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some small dints and bumps and some heavier scratches and nicks visible. There appear to be small solder repairs along a seam line on one side. The lid sits fairly well. Maker's mark is a little distorted but the other hallmarks are clear and legible. Lion passant also struck to lid.
