Lot Description

An early twentieth century Sampson Mordan silver cased pipe kit, of plain outline and opening to reveal a central stand fitted with various implements, with monogrammed base. Silver case hallmarked London, date letter illegible.  Length excluding suspension ring measures 3 1/4 inches (8.2 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some deeper scratches and nicks and numerous small dints and bumps are visible to the silver case.  Areas and patches of rust are visible to the metal tools.  The maker's mark and hallmarks appear quite rubbed, the lion passant and Assay mark are still legible but the date letter is illegible.  It also bears a further impressed mark 'S. MORDAN & Co'.
