Lot 480

Lot Description

A Sampson Mordan 'Everpoint' silver propelling pencil with pocket clip, engine turned decoration surrounding a vacant name panel, hallmarked London 1929, also marked 'Mordan Everpoint Patent 179005'. Together with a Sampson Mordan slide action propelling pencil, also with engine turned decoration. Respective extended lengths measure 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm) and 4 inches (10.2 cm). (2).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both pencils display general surface scratches, marks and wear and some tarnishing.  The Everpoint pencil appears in fairly good overall condition and the propelling action is in working order.  There is some light rubbing to hallmarks but they are still clear and legible, also pocket clip is struck with the lion passant.  The decoration on the other pencil is now very worn to some areas so that much of the detail is lost.  Part of the maker's mark is now indistinct.  The slide action appears in working order and the propelling section is incised with the letter 'H'.
