A continental compact, the square shaped body with ribbed sides, engine turned lid and reverse with floral accents, with replacement red gem set thumb-piece. Stamped 800. Measures 3 1/4 inches x 2 3/4 inches (8 cm x 7 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Marks to the lid and back, small dent to the upper edge of lid, signs of wear around the opening. Inset gem possibly not original as it does not fit neatly into silver mount. Residue to the interior corners and around hinge. Interior mirror with small marks to the outer edges only.
