Lot Description

A William IV silver vinaigrette of oblong form with central initialled cartouche, engraved foliate surround within punch-work borders and floral scroll rim, opening to the silver-gilt interior with floral scroll pierced grille. Hallmarked Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1835. Length measuring 3 cm, weight 10.4 grams.

The vinaigrette appears in clean and recently polished condition. The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

The lid not quite sitting flush to one one side. The gilding looks bright, possibly re-done. Grille hinge a little loose. The hallmarks are partly distorted but easily legible.
