Lot Description

A George IV silver Fiddle pattern caddy spoon with initialled terminal, hallmarked William Bateman II, London 1828. Together with two further Georgian silver caddy spoons, one of shell bowl design, the second with pricked borders and a mother of pearl handled silver book mark modelled as a trowel. Combined spoon weight 33.68 grams. (4).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. The Fiddle pattern caddy spoon has small spots of discolouration and slight distortion to the shape of the bowl and nick in edge, hallmarks clear and legible. The two further spoons are both pitted and dented, hallmarks partially of completely obscured and a solder repair to one. The bookmark trowel is of thin gage, dented and bent, handle secure, maker's mark legible (W.H.L) but hallmarks partially obscured.
