Lot 600

Lot Description

A modern silver vesta case of plain oblong form, the front decorated in relief with the figure of a mermaid emerging from the sea, impressed 'sterling' and '925' with import marks for London 1992. Together with a late Victorian silver vesta case of lobed outline, hallmarked Birmingham 1891 and a further Edwardian example, plain in design with engraved monogram, hallmarked Birmingham 1909.  Combined gross weight  2.65 ozt (82.4 grams). (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

The cases are in fair condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.  Heavier wear around edges and corners, also heavier scratches and marks visible to some areas.  Some slight surface dints/bumps.  Some loss of detail and definition to the raised surface of the mermaid.  Hinges are all in working order.  On the lobed vesta, there is a slight gap remaining when in the closed position.  Some rubbing and slight distortion to some of the hallmarks but they are mainly legible.
